Information Television Network has appointed R K Arora as chief executive officer. This follows the network's decision to enter the English national news domain through its acquisition of the English news channel, NewsX.

Arora will report to Kartikeya Sharma, managing director, Information Television Network and will handle the business operations of the Hindi news channel India News, five regional channels and its English news channel, NewsX.

Arora says, "I am delighted to join ITV Network, which has a variety of offerings such as Hindi, English and regional news channels."

The erstwhile CEO of BAG Network, Arora was leading business operations for News24, E24 and Darshan 24. He will now lead the expansion plans of ITV Network and will provide the vision and strategic leadership for all aspects of the business.

Arora adds that with his grip on the media industry and distribution, including technology implications, he looks forward to enhance the channel's market share across the board and also augment the channel's revenue with fresh strategies and ideas. His vision is to set the agenda for an integrated media network, with each of its brands excelling in performance across all parameters.

Sharma says, "We are going through exciting times in the media industry, wherein due to digitisation, the entire business diaspora is changing and R K Arora's rich experience and leadership is well set to steer the group to great heights."

A chartered accountant by education, Arora was associated with the Independent News Service since its inception that launched India Television in 2004. He was the chief financial officer for the media venture. Arora joined BAG Network in 2011 for a short stint at the organisation.
