The bureau has also elected Syed Mahmood Ahmad, executive vice-president, marketing, ITC as its deputy chairman on the council.
The Audit Bureau of Circulation has elected Shailesh Gupta of Jagran Group as the chairman of the bureau for 2012-13. Gupta is director, marketing, Jagran Prakashan. Earlier, Sam Balsara, chairman and managing director, Madison Communications was holding the designation.
Gupta has been with the Jagran Prakashan group since 1994 and is also a member of the Indian Newspaper Society.
In addition to this, the bureau has also elected Syed Mahmood Ahmad, executive vice-president, marketing, ITC as its deputy chairman on the council.
The bureau's council of management for 2012-13 includes eight publisher representatives including Gupta. The other representatives are M Venkatesh of Hindustan Media Ventures, Amit Mathew of Malayala Manorama, Aritra Sarkar of ABP, I Venkat of Ushodaya Enterprises, Hormusji N Cama of The Bombay Samachar, Devendra Darda of Lokmat Media and Sanjeev Vohra of BCCL.
Also, four advertiser representatives and four advertising agency representatives were elected on the council. Apart from Ahmad of ITC, the advertiser representatives include Ravi Pisharody of Tata Motors, Debabrata Mukherjee of Coca-Cola India and Anil Dua of Hero MotoCorp.
For the year 2012-13, the responsibilities of the secretary general will be handled by Hormuzd Masani.
