According to the grapevine, Tony D'Silva, CEO, Sun Direct has decided to move out of the organisation. He joined Sun Direct in September 2007 as COO, DTH business.
Apparently, he is serving his notice period and will leave the organisation on July 31. D'Silva plans to relocate to Mumbai and continue in the distribution space, as per the sources. He is currently based in Chennai.
D'Silva refused to comment on the development, without accepting or denying the news.
Before joining Sun Direct, D'Silva was associated with STAR India. He joined STAR India in 2002 as executive vice-president, distribution, before being promoted as head of distribution.
He has also worked with Zee Networks as head of international operations.
D'Silva has also been associated with Modi Entertainment Networks as CEO; tobacco major Godfrey Phillips; and Reckitt & Coleman.
Of the 20 million DTH subscribers in India, Sun Direct commands more than 25 per cent of the pie with a customer base of 5.3 million.
