Kumar has joined the channel today. He will report to H R Ranganath, chairman and managing director, Public TV.
Writemen Media's Kannada channel, Public TV has taken on board C K Harish Kumar as vice-president, sales and marketing. Earlier, Kumar was working with Suvarna News as associate vice-president. At Public TV, he will report to H R Ranganath, chairman and managing director. Kumar has joined the channel today, June 6.
It is learnt that the media company plans a few new projects under Kumar's leadership. His responsibilities will be to develop and strengthen the offerings. He will also play a significant role in the expansion of the new projects.
Public TV was launched in January. The tagline for the newly launched news channel is 'Idu Yaara aasthiyoo alla'. Some of the important shows on the channel are News Cafe (news bulletin), Cine Adda (entertainment news), Benki Birugali (debate), Checkbandi (debate), Public Raid, Police Brain (crime-based news), First Gear (automobile-based show), Voice of People, Jindagi and Mister Singri.
In an official communiqué, Ranganath says, "Harish comes with a significant experience in developing news channels and his understanding of television is quite phenomenal. We believe his understanding of the regional and national market will help the channel."
Kumar started his career with Gild as a trainer in 1990. He started his marketing career in 1993 with Get Yellow Pages. Later, he joined ABP as group executive in 1999. After three years, he shifted to an advertising media solutions agency, Hitakshi Media, in 2002, as business manager for six months.
Subsequently, he had another short stint of six months at AJS India. He then joined Deccan Herald in 2003 as deputy general manager. From there, he moved to Suvarna News in 2010 as associate vice-president.
