The Associated Broadcasting Company (ABCL), which operates the TV9 news network, has roped in S Divaakar as vice-president, sales, national.
As part of his new mandate, Divaakar will be based in Bengaluru and will report to Clifford Pereira, director, ABCL. Divaakar moves in from Public TV, a new Kannada news channel owned and run by Writeman Media, where he was vice-president, sales and marketing.
For the record, this is Divaakar's second stint with the company. Before joining Writeman Media, he had worked with the TV9 network as AGM, sales and marketing for four and a half years.
Confirming the development, Pereira tells afaqs!, "TV9 network is ready to take its growth to the next level. We plan to launch more channels in the near future and are aggressively looking at bringing good talent on board. Divaakar has worked with the network before, has handled the network business from Delhi; and he did a very good job. Therefore, with his already proven track record, we thought he would be the best fit for this role."
Divaakar joins office from May 21.
He has completed close to 19 years in the television industry. He began his career as a sales executive in Udaya TV when the channel was launched in 1994. He has also worked in Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi for channels such as Gemini TV, Jaya TV, ETC, Zee Network, Sahara One and Filmy.
