The other Hindi daily to have entered the city recently is Dainik Bhaskar.
A day before Dainik Bhaskar's new printing facility in Raigarh became functional, Patrika launched a full-fledged edition from the city, making Patrika the first daily to have an edition from Raigarh.
With the latest addition, the Patrika Group now has 30 editions spread across seven states. The new edition has a cover price of Rs 2 on all days. In due course of time, it will also cover Dharamjaygarh. Earlier, Raigarh was not being serviced by Patrika.
The Raigarh edition will be an all-colour one with 20 pages of content, out of which four pages will be dedicated to news from Raigarh and Dharamjaygarh.
Talking about the new edition, B R Singh, general manager, circulations, Patrika Group, says, "We have observed that the people here feel neglected in terms of raising their voice. People of Raigarh demanded a neutral media to raise their voice about the issues that they confront as the current media was more pro-government and is never concerned about readers."
The group is promoting the edition mainly through an out of home campaign that will include door to door, hoardings, parking boards and banners.
Patrika will face competition from Dainik Bhaskar, which started servicing Raigarh, Jashpur and Janjgir-Champa with approximately 25,000 copies from February 19. Raigarh is an industrial belt of Chhattisgarh, with many power and steel plants situated in the region.
Apart from Raigarh, Patrika currently has editions in Raipur, Durg and Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.
