Sakal Media has appointed Jaisurya Das as its chief operating officer (COO) and Shailesh Amonkar as the new chief marketing officer (CMO). Abhijeet Pawar, managing director and editor, Sakal Media Group, confirmed the developments to afaqs!.
Das joins in from Xanadu Consulting Group, a media and advertising talent search firm, where he was chief mentor and founder director. He turned entrepreneur with Xanadu in 2003. With over 18 years of experience in media selling and creating brands, Das is credited with the setting up of The Times of India in Pune, and later establish The Indian Express in the city.
Das holds a graduate degree in Emergency Medical Services. He has earlier worked as a consultant for the Sakal Media Group.
Amonkar, who is the CMO, will also head the sales and marketing functions of the group. This is Amonkar's second stint with Sakal Media. He has been associated earlier with the group from 2003 to 2006, when he left the newspaper as director, marketing, to set up his own media venture titled Kemistry Media Solutions.
During his career, Amonkar has been associated with The Times of India for about 15 years before he joined Sakal.
