Samir Patil steps down from the post, but will continue to be on the board of directors.
ACK Media has roped in Vijay Sampath as the new chief executive officer (CEO). He takes over from Samir Patil, who held the position till now.
Patil will continue to be on the board of directors of ACK Media.
Prior to joining ACK Media, Sampath was with India Capital Advisors since March 2010 as a partner. During his 23-year-long career, he has been associated with various media, consumer products and franchising companies.
With key assignments at Blow Plast, Zee Network, Bennett Coleman and The Alia Group, Vijay has worked with leading brands, created and led innovative business units, spearheaded corporate strategy and has been an entrepreneur .
He has also been associated with Aliagroup, a multinational network of companies focussing on venture infrastructure, brand solutions, information technology, media content and BPO services, as the group CEO (chief executive officer) for around two years. Apart from this, he has worked with BCCL Group as vice-president, corporate, for about four years, prior to which he was with Zee Telefilms as executive vice-president. He was also with Zee Interactive Learning Systems as vice-president for five years, where he headed the retail education business of the group.
He joined Blow Plast in 1988, and left the company in 1995 as the product manager. At Blow Plast, he has handled various responsibilities including that of a marketing manager for the hard luggage brands VIP and Alfa.
Sampath completed his PGDM from XLRI Jamshedpur and his BSc from the University of Madras.
In an official communique, Patil says, "Over the years, he has contributed immensely to the industry, and I am confident that his holistic business acumen and strategic thinking will continue to be of immense value."
