Radio One, a joint venture between Next Mediaworks and BBC Worldwide, has appointed Anita Pawaskar as programming head for its Mumbai branch. She will report to Anil Machado, national programming head, Radio One, and Kiran D Cruz, station director, Mumbai, Radio One.
Talking to afaqs!, Pawaskar says, "I will be responsible for running the radio station, which will include selecting the music, managing jockeys, and most importantly, finding out what a listener wants to hear on Radio One. In other words, my mandate is to make the station sound good, keeping in mind the local format, and bring a smile on the listener's face."
Pawaskar was earlier with Radio Mirchi as group head, corporate programming.
In an official communiqué, Machado says, "We are sure that Pawaskar's vast experience in the medium will benefit Radio One."
After graduating in Electronics and obtaining a Master's degree in English Literature, Pawaskar completed her M Phil on the role of music in black American literature. She has more than 15 years of experience in the industry.
Pawaskar started her career with APT Interactive, followed by Damden Infotech and Ascion. Subsequently, she shifted to Technology Media Group, followed by her most recent role in Radio Mirchi, where she worked for close to 10 years.
Pawaskar has a passion for conducting radio workshops. She has been a visiting faculty at Manipal University, Christ College, and Mount Carmel, among others.
