In his new role, Singh will drive the next level of growth for the Forbes India stable.
Network18 has roped in Gurmeet Singh, who was earlier heading the Mumbai edition of the Hindustan Times as the CEO (chief executive officer), Forbes India, with immediate effect. Prior to heading the Mumbai edition of Hindustan Times, Singh was handling ad sales for Hindustan Times and Mint in the West zone.
In an official communiqué, Singh says, "Forbes India is now at a very exciting stage in its journey. I hope to work closely with the team to unlock the potential of our brands and drive comprehensive growth in the business."
Speaking on the development, B Sai Kumar, group COO (chief operating officer), Network18, says, "We believe that the Forbes India stable in India is poised for its next phase of growth and profitability. Singh's diverse experience and strong understanding of media brands, position him well to lead Forbes India forward."
Singh, who is a university gold medallist in Mechanical Engineering from the Osmania University, Hyderabad, completed his MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi, in 1993. He started his career with FMCG major Marico Industries. After five years of FMCG sales and brand management at Marico, he moved on to Sony Music to handle the sales and marketing of the North zone for the company.
During his career, Singh has also worked with the India Today Group as business director, Music Today, where he was credited with expanding the label to the film genre, starting the music events division, with two new labels -- one for the youth, and the other in the economy segment. During his tenure with the India Today Group, he also initiated the books and home video division.
For the record, the Network18 Group has interests in television, the internet, filmed entertainment, eCommerce, magazines, mobile content, and allied businesses.
