The new edition was launched on August 27, with an initial print run of 82,000 copies.
The Dainik Bhaskar-Jabalpur Group, led by Manmohan Agarwal and Kailash Agarwal, has launched an edition from Aurangabad on August 27. It is to be noted that DB Corp's Marathi daily Divya Marathi debuted from the city in May this year.
The edition has a cover price of Rs 2.50 per copy, and was launched with a pre-booking of approximately 50,000 copies for the Aurangabad city, and 31,000 for upcountry markets.
Talking about the decision to launch an edition from Aurangabad, Kailash Agarwal, managing director, Dainik Bhaskar-Jabalpur Group, says, "We already have the Dainik Bhaskar editions in Nagpur and Akola in Maharashtra. Since we want to concentrate further in the state, and Aurangabad being a potential market with its large base of industries and business activities besides it historical importance, was an apt choice of place for us to launch our edition."
On an average, the edition will carry 21 pages, including one page of DB Star that will carry youth-related stories. The daily will have three weekly supplements -- Nav Rang on Saturdays, Ras Rang on Sundays, and Madhurima on Wednesdays.
Until now, Aurangabad was being catered to from Akola. To promote the newly-launched edition, the group is carrying out road shows and reader contact programmes.
With Divya Marathi just having entered the city and DB Corp's advertisements being fresh in the minds of people there, the Dainik Bhaskar-Jabalpur Group hopes to cash in on that and take advantage of the group activities in the same city. "It is a synergy for us," says the official.
The Jabalpur edition of Dainik Bhaskar will complete its 25 years at the end of August 2011. To celebrate its silver jubilee, the group is organising Bhaskar Rajat Jayanti Utsav, a reader connect programme that will inculcate various sports, cooking workshops, cultural fest, rock band show, group dance competition, folk dance competition, fashion shows, and a Garba Mahotsava.
