Jagran Prakashan has launched the 101st edition of its free weekly newspaper Cityplus in the country. The paper was launched from Wakad and Pimple Saudagar in Pune on July 30. This is Cityplus's seventh edition in the city.
The edition will have a circulation of 35,000 copies, and will cover residential and commercial establishments across Wakad and Pimple Saudagar. Apart from the new edition, the weekly community paper has editions in Kondhwa, Aundh, Deccan, Kothrud, Camp and Koregaon/Kalyani Nagar in Pune. With this launch, the total count of Cityplus editions will be 32, spread across Delhi and NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Cityplus is a free weekly community newspaper distributed, free of cost on Saturdays and Sundays.
On why Cityplus is kept a weekly newspaper, Salil Tandon, business head, Jagran Prakashan, says, "The concept is of a weekly community newspaper, and we do not carry any news which has a date value."
The ad rate for the Wakad edition is around Rs 70 per sq cm. Jagran is hopeful of tapping both organised, as well as unorganised retailers in the area.
"Wakad/Pimple Saudagar are upcoming and developing areas in Pune. The population in those areas is a healthy mix of salaried, as well as self-employed old and young people, belonging to the upper middle class society. There is lot of potential for a community newspaper, as there are many eating joints, hotels, retail outlets, spas and gyms, as well as many commercial establishments," says Tandon.
