Viacom18 Media, the equal joint venture between Viacom Inc. and the Network18 Group, has appointed Namrata Tata as national head, sales, VH1 India. Tata will be responsible for driving VH1 sales revenues across all markets. She will report to Ferzad Palia, head, VH1 India. Prior to this appointment, Tata was vice-president at AIDEM Ventures, handling network sales for NDTV 24X7 and NDTV India.
Commenting on her appointment, Ferzad Palia remarks in an official communiqué, "Over the last 18 months, VH1's revenue growth outperformed the industry average, as did our viewership share and affinity. We're confident that Namrata will take this momentum forward as we look to scale even greater heights with some massive properties on the anvil."
With more than 12 years of experience, Tata has also worked at NDTV Media, Sahara One, Nickelodeon, NDTV India and STAR India, among others.
Tata started her career in 1999 as a money market dealer (government securities) with Mata Securities India. She left in 2002 to join STAR India in the sales department, where she worked on STAR News and National Geographic Channel. In 2003, she moved on to join NDTV 24x7, where she was also a founder member of the NDTV Media team. She moved on to NDTV Media where she was responsible for the sales in the Western region.
She then spent a year at Nickelodeon, following which she moved on as associate vice-president, international sales at NDTV Network and MSN. She went on to work with NDTV Media and AIDEM Ventures.
