The show opened with the highest ratings as compared to the other new launches in Week 23, across the Hindi GEC space.
With the curtains finally down on the almost three-month-long cricketing season, the Hindi GEC space is once again up and grooving to capture the much subtle audience attention.
For the week ended June 4 (TAM, C&S4+, HSM), the genre witnessed the launch of six new shows -- Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 and Hamari Saas Leela on Colors, Saregamapa Lil Champs on Zee TV, X Factor India and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain on Sony, and the third season of Swayamvar on Imagine TV.
And, it is the fourth edition of Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi (FF-KKK) that opened with the highest rating points as compared to the rest -- a TVR of 3.
However, the show has registered much lower opening ratings as compared to the previous two seasons. Last year, FF-KKK scored an opening rating of 5.49, while in 2009, it opened with a TVR of 4.37. The first season of the show, in 2008, had an opening TVR of 1.72.
Media observers are, however, of the opinion that with actor Akshay Kumar back on the host seat, the show will eventually start picking up and perform better than last year. They feel the actor makes the perfect host for this "much rugged" property, while actor Priyanka Chopra's presence in the last season only created some curiosity amongst the younger female audience.
Meanwhile, the other fresh reality launches -- Saregamapa Lil Champs, X Factor India and Swayamvar 3 have scored opening TVRs of 2.7, 2.1 and 1.6, respectively. Amongst the fictions, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain on Sony has garnered a peak TVR of 1.35, while Hamari Saas Leela on Colors has garnered an opening TVR of 1.
Overall, the Hindi GEC space saw an upswing in its viewership, with its total GRPs moving up from Hindi 1168 points in Week 22, to 1231 GRPs in Week 23.
