Yahoo!, the digital media company, has appointed MediaVest, a division of Starcom MediaVest (SMG), to handle its media duties in India. The duties will be handled from the agency's Delhi office.

Yahoo! wants MediaVest to strategically lead and counsel media planning and buying for them across India.

It may be recalled that Yahoo! had called a global review of its media duties in August, 2010. Earlier, Yahoo! was handled by Mindshare, globally. Last year, MediaVest got the opportunity to handle its account in the US.

The agency will work with Yahoo! across eight countries in Asia, namely Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, as well as Singapore, which will be the regional hub for its operations.

MediaVest Worldwide was officially launched in India in 2009, with three offices to begin with - Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Offices in Delhi and Ahmedabad soon followed. It flagged off its operations with a list of clients namely Cadila, Color Plus, Essar Retail, J Hampstead, and the Richemont Group, some of which were inherited from Starcom MediaVest.
