Sakaal Media Group has been strengthening its top management since the last few months. To further strengthen it, the media company has roped in GK Singh as its head for North and East operations. Earlier, Singh was associated with Mid-Day Infomedia as associate vice-president, North, till late last year.
In his new role, Singh will report to Gaurish Pathare, head, ad sales, Sakaal (print division), and will be based in Delhi.
With more than 21 years of experience in the media industry, Singh has worked with The Indian Express, Chitralekha and Amar Ujala, apart from Mid-Day. In 2001, he was part of the team that launched the Varanasi edition of Amar Ujala successfully. Besides, he has always dabbled in television and was associated with a group called Multimedia in 1994.
In an official communiqué, Pathare says, "We were looking for a leader in our North and East operations as both these markets are growing at a rapid rate. North is the market where some of the large advertisers are based. In fact, there are first time advertisers who are contributing to this growth story. I am sure Singh will take this opportunity to build sustainable relationships with all our business partners like advertisers and agencies."
For the record, the print titles of the Sakaal Media group include Sakaal newspaper, Saptahik Sakaal magazine, Agrown daily, Tanishka women's magazine and a film magazine in Marathi, titled Premier.
