Jagran Prakashan has launched the 25th edition of Dainik Jagran Cityplus, its free community newspaper, from Bengaluru. The product will target the middle and upper middle class families in Malleshwaram.

With this launch, the English weekly tabloid now has six editions from Bengaluru. For the record, the brand currently runs 10 editions in Delhi, five in Pune, two in Hyderabad, and two in Mumbai.

Speaking to afaqs!, Salil Tandon, business head and editor, Cityplus, says, "The paper is completely driven by advertising revenue, wherein the advertisers are mostly national and local retailers."

It is pertinent to note here that this is the group's 80th newspaper edition. It also publishes Dainik Jagran, i next, MiD-DAY (in English and Gujarati), and Inquilab, in Urdu.

As part of its expansion strategy, Dainik Jagran Cityplus plans to penetrate into the Tier I and Tier II cities of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh by 2012.

"We will also be looking at the Western and the Southern markets more aggressively. The focus in the South will now be on Kerala and Tamil Nadu," Tandon informs.
