Kabir joined STAR India in February 2010 to set up a planning department to bring more efficiency into the network's promotion planning.
Shams Kabir has put in his papers at STAR India as head, planning and presentation. He had joined the company in February 2010 to set up a planning department, which would make the network's promotion planning exercise more scientific and efficient. He was also responsible for looking after the internal buying and planning of the network.
Confirming the development to afaqs!, Kabir says, "Currently, I am looking at new projects, more so in the domain of broadcast and radio."
Prior to joining STAR India, Kabir was senior vice-president, Marcom at Oxigen Services India. He also worked as consulting partner for the business startup, TeliBrahma Convergent Communications, for a short span.
Kabir has around 17 years of experience in media planning and buying, as well as brand and business management. He has worked in agencies such as Mindshare, Madison, Media Direction RK Swamy and Lowe Lintas and Partners.
Kabir has worked on various product categories and brands, which include baby care (J&J), laundry/detergents (HUL), cosmetics (Lakmé and Cadila), foods and beverages (PepsiCo, Coke, Frito Lay, Adie Broswon and UB), personal care/hygiene and hair care (P&G, HUL and Godrej).
In the services sector, he has worked in banking (HSBC), telecom (Oxigen Infoservices), broadcast media (Broadcast Worldwide), social services (NACO, UNICEF and WHO), tourism (Ministry of Tourism) and airlines (Indian Airlines).
