The GEC will launch new shows such as Zor Ka Jhatka, Pardes Mein Mila Koi Apna, Swayamvar Season 3 and a historical saga on the life of Chandragupta Maurya.
Turner India promoted Hindi general entertainment channel Imagine TV will shuffle its current programming line up to make way for new fiction and non-fiction shows. The channel will soon launch its big ticket one hour reality show, Zor Ka Jhatka, which will go on air from February 1. It will be aired on Monday-Thursday at 9 pm.
Speaking about the programming line up, Saurabh Tewari, head, programming, fiction, Imagine TV, says, "Zor Ka Jhatka features actor Shah Rukh Khan as the host; it is one of our prime properties this year, hence we have chosen the 9-10 pm time slot during weekdays. Additionally, we will introduce Pardes Mein Mila Koi Apna on weekdays at 10:30 pm. As we go ahead this year, we will launch a few more shows - both fiction as well as non-fiction."
While 70 per cent of the channel's content will be fiction, 30 per cent will be non-fiction, reality shows. With the introduction of new shows, the channel has shuffled a couple of its ongoing programmes. Armano Ka Balidan - Aarakshan has been shifted to the 7:30 pm time slot, while Gunahon Ka Devta has been moved to 8:30 pm. Baba Aisa Varr Dhoondo will be aired at 10 pm. The channel will continue showing Kitni Mohabbat Hai at 8 pm.
With a revamp in its programming line up, the channel hopes for a better performance in ratings. For Imagine TV, the focus will be to feature amongst the top three players in television ratings by the end of this year.
Tewari explains, "This year, we will introduce a lot of new and innovative shows, both in the genre of fiction and non-fiction. Later in the first quarter, we will launch the third season of Swayamvar, followed by a fiction on the life of Emperor Chandragupta Maurya. With a strong line up, we are aiming at the top three positions in the Hindi GEC genre by the end of this year."
