MRUC (Media Research Users Council) has appointed Shaswati Saradar as director general. Saradar takes over from Joseph Eapen, who was appointed the CEO of MRUC in April 2010 and resigned in December.
Speaking to afaqs! on condition of anonymity, a senior official at MRUC confirmed the development, saying, "Shaswati has joined MRUC on January 03 this year."
Saradar has more than 15 years of experience in media advertising and marketing. Prior to MRUC, she was vice-president and head of marketing, Europe and Russia at Zee Network, where she worked for a little over one year. For six years, from 2002 to 2008, she worked with automobile company, Maruti Suzuki as senior manager. A diploma holder from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Saradar's other stints include McCann Erickson and Ogilvy and Mather.
