The four channels are Zee TV APAC, Zee Cinema, Zing and Zee Salaam.
In a bid to expand its penetration across markets, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has launched four channels from its bouquet -- Zee TV APAC, Zee Cinema, Zing and Zee Salaam -- on Fetch TV in Australia.
The four channels have been launched on World TV, a package on Fetch TV, which comprises two sub-packages, namely, South Asian and Mandarin.
Fetch TV is an Australian founded-and-owned business, with backing from the Malaysia based Astro All Asia Networks subscription TV group. It is a wholesale subscription TV provider to many Australian ISPs (internet service providers). The Fetch TV service provides access to digital free-to-air channels, subscription channels, video on-demand and interactive content via an unmetered broadband connection.
Bharat Ranga, CEO, international business, ZEEL says in an official communiqué, "There is high broadband penetration of 6.1 million households in Australia and internet-based media consumption on digital platforms, and it has been rapidly growing. Hence, we are definitely in a favourable situation to take advantage of the current dynamics in the market."
For the record, currently, Zee reaches out to 4.8 million viewers in APAC, the company claims.
Media expert Saba Zaidi Abdi, who has worked with Fetch TV on the creation of these packages, says, "While packaging the two bouquets, we have selected only the premium channels and best quality content available from South Asia. Acknowledging the diverse cultural, linguistic, religious and entertainment needs within the South Asian community, we have created comprehensive bouquets, which offer a variety of channels for all generations. Because Fetch TV is delivered over broadband, a satellite dish is not required to receive the packages. This means that the new service can be accessed by a larger proportion of the South Asian community that can receive existing subscription TV options."
Zee has been available in Australia since June 2004, on other mainstream DTH platforms such as Vision Asia and KonnecTV.
