National Geographic Channel (NGC) has chosen the festive occasion of Durga Puja to launch its Bengali feed. The feed has been launched with an aim to reach out to a larger spectrum of Bengali viewers in their own language.
This development is in line with NGC's focus on regional languages. The channel launched its Telugu feed in August this year.
In an official communiqué, Keertan Adyanthaya, managing director, NGC and Fox International Channels, says, "West Bengal is an important market for us, as we have a large number of viewers in the state. Bringing NGC in Bengali will give our viewers a flavour of compelling stories in their native language, aided by stunning visuals and credibility that people have come to expect from NGC."
NGC will be available in Bengali from November 03, 2010. Thus, viewers will be able to enjoy programmes such as Jailed Abroad and Air Crash Investigations; NGC specials such as Great migrations; the best of NGC specials, events and signature series throughout the week, 24x7 in Bengali.
Adyanthaya calls the launch of the Bengali feed a valuable addition to the National Geographic Channels Network, reinforcing its commitment to offer viewers a new way to look at the world.
To promote its Bengali feed, NGC has roped in celebrity actors from STAR Jalsha. The Bengali feed of the channel will be promoted through a 360-degree marketing campaign.
NGC is also available in Hindi, English and Telugu.
