The daily soap has recorded a TVR of 9.6, its highest ever

Bidaai, on STAR Plus, has once again firmed up its position as the queen of soaps by recording the highest ever TVR of 9.6 in the second week of 2009, as per TAM Media Research data on C&S homes, 4+ audiences in Hindi speaking markets. Last week, the show had grabbed a TVR of 8.7. Its closest and fiercest competitor, Balika Vadhu, on Colors has garnered a TVR of 8.5 this week.

Bidaai is going through an interesting phase right now, according to Keertan Adyanthaya, executive vice-president and general manager, STAR Plus. “One of the key characters, Ragini, is getting married. The whole of last week and the coming few weeks will be on that track,” he explains.

The overall GRP of general entertainment channels has dipped from 1,221 in Week 1 to 1,174 in Week 2. STAR Plus, the No. 1, maintains its share of a quarter of the general entertainment channel pie, with GRP of 297.

Colors, with 260 GRP, retains its No. 2 rank and has garnered a relative share of 22 per cent. Colors’ mythological series, Jai Shri Krishna, has recorded a TVR of 6.5. Uttaran, another blockbuster on Colors, has got a TVR of 4.5. Jeevan Saathi, also on Colors, has made its way into the list of Top 10 TV shows with a TVR of 3.3. Now, Colors has five shows in the Top 10 list.

Zee TV, the No. 3 channel, has increased its GRP from 188 in Week 1 to 196 in Week 2. Its relative share stands at 17 per cent. Chhoti Bahu, its daily soap with a TVR of 3.3, is the channel’s only show in the Top 10 list.

At No. 4, Sony has seen a drastic fall in its GRP from 126 in Week 1 to 85 in Week 2. From 10 per cent, its relative share has decreased to 7 per cent. STAR One and NDTV Imagine remain equal, with a relative share of 6 per cent each. Their GRPs stand at 73 and 67, respectively.

SAB and Sahara One, too, share the same rank and their relative shares are 4 per cent each. SAB has managed to increase its GRP marginally from 48 in Week 1 to 51 in Week 2. 9X has been witnessing a decline in its GRP for a few weeks now. With 39 GRP, its channel share stands at 3 per cent.
