Sony Entertainment Television (SET) India will now be known as Multi Screen Media Pvt. Ltd. The development is a result of the growth of the company’s business into various media. In addition to television, Multi Screen Media is looking to invest in businesses such as mobile, Internet, exhibition and out of home screens.

This development was confirmed to agencyfaqs! by Kunal Dasgupta, chief executive officer, Multi Screen Media. He says there will be no change in the brand names of the network’s television channels or logos. The network name is designed to bring all its channels under one umbrella. While each channel in the network has a clearly defined character, the new name will consolidate the brand identity for the network as a whole.

The decision comes after the company board met in Singapore on November 27.

Dasgupta says, “The company will be diversifying operations into other entertainment mediums such as mobile, Internet and out of home. This will also help in communicating the strength of the network through a distinct network name while reinforcing connect with viewers by giving a clear identity to each channel.”

Sony Pictures Entertainment, USA, holds 61 per cent equity stake in SET India, Indian partners and NRIs hold 31 per cent, and Capital International, Japan, holds 8 per cent.

Recently, the network changed its logo design slightly. The new logo has Sony Entertainment Television inscribed under the network alphabet, ‘S’. Earlier, Sony was written above the ‘S’, while ‘Entertainment Television’ appeared below it.
