Channel [V] launches nine new shows this season

The shows are ‘India’s Hottest’, ‘Beach Diaries’, ‘Webcam Goddess’, ‘Aditya’s Playlist’, ‘On Campus’, ‘The Miss – Takes of Shakira and Beyonce’, ‘News Bollytin’, ‘Bolly [V]’ and ‘Lola Bulletin’

Channel [V] has launched nine new shows for the current season. All the shows are currently on air, having been launched in the middle of November.

When asked why they launched nine shows simultaneously, Amar K Deb, head, Channel [V], says, “At Channel [V], every quarter is a new season for us and we follow a different season format every time. Because we cater to an extremely dynamic audience segment with a really short span of attention, our endeavour has been to provide them with something that’s unique and interesting. We have followed the tent pole route where a big, innovative or appealing property becomes the highlight of the season. This quarter, we have a variety of shows that cater to almost every taste.”

Deb says that the highlight of this quarter is the show, ‘India’s Hottest’, hosted by VJs Bruna and Aditya. The show is about the search for India’s hottest girl and boy. People can upload their photos on the web and be rated by India. The response from the audience has been overwhelming and the channel website has already received half a million page views. The winner takes home a prize of Rs 5 lakh.

The communication strategy for this quarter is focused on driving audiences to sample the tent pole – the main highlight. Using the main property, Channel [V] can get people to sample its other shows as well, thereby increasing stickiness across day parts. Deb says that this strategy has worked very well for the channel in the past, so they will continue using it.

The other shows that Channel [V] has launched are ‘Beach Diaries’, ‘Webcam Goddess’, ‘Aditya’s Playlist’, ‘On Campus’, ‘The Miss – Takes of Shakira and Beyonce’, ‘News Bollytin’, ‘Bolly [V]’ and ‘Lola Bulletin’. The shows have been designed keeping in mind the psychographics and lifestyle of the audiences in SEC ABC, aged 15-34 years.

Channel [V] is coming up with another new show called ‘Campus Star’ in the middle of December. The show targets college students and aims to activate college campuses in a unique way.
