Karnataka-based Marathi daily Tarun Bharat has launched its Mumbai edition. It is priced at Rs 4 per copy.

The 16-page paper has recorded an initial print run of 35,000 copies. It is targeted at readers who hail from different parts of Maharashtra and have settled in Mumbai. The paper caters to their need for news about their home towns and villages.

It also looks to cater to those who travel a lot between Mumbai and the paper's other markets such as Ratnagiri, Kohlapur, Sangli and others. The objective is to retain their habit of reading Tarun Bharat while in Mumbai.

The Mumbai edition will have one page dedicated to the city, roughly two pages dedicated to national news, and entertainment, business and sports.

The paper is being edited by Kiran Thakur. Plans to launch the next edition (from Pune) are on the cards.

Recently, the team had announced the launch of the Mumbai edition through outdoor promotions both in Mumbai and other existing markets.

For the record, the paper was launched by late Shri Baburao Thakur in 1919 to fight against the British. Currently the paper has seven editions from Belgaum, Goa, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara, Sangli and Kohlapur.
