The Quint, Viacom 18 and ADK Fortune are among the major winners in the second edition of the awards which are focused on digital video.
The much expanded 2nd edition of the vdonxt awards, which took place last evening in Mumbai, saw a spurt in participation by ad agencies, marketers, online publishers and content creators. Nearly 50 companies competed for the metals in eight categories.
The vdonxt Awards aim to recognise the best work in digital video and also identify and celebrate individuals playing a big role in pushing the growth of the medium.
New online publisher, The Quint, had a great evening out winning two golds (Comedy, Music Video) and five other metals giving it a total of seven. It won golds for 'Aditi Mittal Takes the Sex Out of the Sexuals as Dr Mrs Lutchuke' in Comedy and for 'The Quint's Bol Rap Ft. Chacha Nehru' in Music Video.
Next came Viacom 18 which won four metals including two golds for Brand Integration - Web Series ('Ceat MTV Chase the Monsoon 5) as also for News & Features ('MTV Samachar').
Ad agency ADK Fortune was the other entity to do well, having secured three wins including two golds for Brand Video and Social Awareness. Both its golds came for its ad, 'PregaNews - #YourSecondHome'.
The vdonxt awards jury consisted of 10 young marketers: Adarsh Pete (Adobe), Akash Banerji (Voot), Asha Kharga (Axis Bank), Damandeep Soni (MobiKwik), Jaskaran Kapany (Paytm), Rachna Lather (Motorola), Shantanu Gangane (Viu India), Shilpa Dureja Puri (Microsoft), Shoumyan Biswas (Flipkart) and Swati Rathi (Godrej).
It was the same jury that judged the entries and identified the Persons of the Year. Nominations had been invited through heavy promotion and a shortlist of six names, in each of the two Person of the Year categories, were forwarded to the jury.
Hotstar, which Ajit Mohan heads, has become the most downloaded entertainment app from out of India. Meanwhile, Pasricha has managed to turn Pammi Aunty, the talkative, opinionated Delhi Punjabi, into a powerful phenomenon.
