Have you have ever felt like you are at your wits' end when buying a gift for someone? Online marketplace Flipkart has a simple solution called Flipkart GiftCards. And, to tell users about this new service, it has come up with an ad that is a witty take on the gifting 'habits' of Indians.
The digital ad argues that while 'We Indians' share 'close' relationships with each other, we become quite 'closed' when it comes to gifting. The dilemma is expressed through the story of a family where the wife, grandmother, and the sister have been tormented with boring and weird gifts all through the years.
Then, there's the 'typical Indian husband' who, on his anniversary, is confused about what the colour 'yellow' means for his wife. Is it lemon, butter, banana or pineapple yellow? While he tries to fathom it, the ad goes on to talk about the clever grandpa -- a master of 'hera-pheri' or gift-swapping. The artful old man invests neither his brain, nor his money in buying gifts. He, quite conveniently, swaps them between the 'tau jis', 'mausa jis' and 'behnoi jis'.
While this ad is schooling users in how to find #ThePerfectGift, Flipkart is, concurrently, also running another campaign called 'Flipkart Matlab Bilkul Pakka', to highlight its easy returns policy and its 100 per cent original products claim.
