This is the company's fourth top-level hire in three months.
The Indian fashion and lifestyle e-commerce portal Jabong has announced that Muralikrishnan B will soon join its leadership team as the company's chief operating officer. He will report directly to CEO Sanjeev Mohanty, and will be responsible for overseeing the technology, product and digital marketing functions.
Muralikrishnan is an e-commerce veteran, as well as a product strategy and management specialist with 19 years of industry experience. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC), he has worked with large internet service providers (ISPs) in product management roles before joining eBay in 2005, where he performed leadership roles in product management, category management and marketing. He was later appointed as eBay's country manager for India, Philippines and Malaysia in 2011.
Prior to joining Jabong, Muralikrishnan was the chief operating officer of IndiaProperty, an online real-estate portal, before which he co-founded a start-up in the digital health space.
"I welcome Murali to join my leadership team in this exciting phase of evolution at Jabong as we transform into a professionally-managed company. I am sure that his contribution will help Jabong achieve profitable growth by focussing on product innovation with a passion for serving our consumers with the most incredible mobile and digital shopping experience," says Mohanty.
As the company transforms itself from a start-up to a professionally-run organisation, Jabong has carried out its fourth-top level hire in three months. Earlier this month, Jabong had announced the appointment of Deepa Chadha as its chief human resource officer.
The company had previously strengthened its leadership by appointing Ranjan Kant as chief marketplace officer and Kalyan Kumar as chief merchandising officer. These experienced leaders will support Mohanty who took over as CEO in December 2015.
