Tarun Jain has been appointed head of products for the Ads Group at Flipkart. He will be accountable for driving business strategy, product vision, product roadmap, execution, partnerships and customer adoption. Jain will report to Ravi Garikipati, entrepreneur-in-residence, Flipkart.
Prior to Flipkart, Jain, who started his career with Microsoft, worked with Twitter as Group product manager in San Francisco Bay Area, where he led product strategy for several ads and commerce products. Before Twitter, he worked at Google as lead product manager. He built and scaled various new products like AdWords Express (SMB Places), Dynamic Ads, Google Offers and Google Shopping/ PLAs.
The Ads Group at Flipkart was formed to tap into the immense potential that exists in the digital advertising landscape in India. While India has taken charge as a mobile-first country, the media spend on mobile in India is still relatively less as compared to spends globally. The Ads Group at Flipkart is all set to bridge this gap and bring about a disruption in the mobile ads ecosystem with its multi-disciplinary approach and innovative solutions.
Flipkart, meanwhile, has been on a hiring spree. The company recently appointed former Google executive Surojit Chatterjee as senior vice-president and head of consumer experience and growth. In October this year, Aditya Swamy, executive vice-president, Viacom18 Media and business head, MTV and MTV Indies, joined the online marketplace in a senior marketing role.
