Snapdeal appoints Adobe's Rajiv Mangla as chief technology officer

He brings with him over 20 years of experience in engineering and leading high-calibre product tech teams.

Online marketplace Snapdeal has announced the appointment of Rajiv Mangla as chief technology officer. He will establish the company's technical vision and lead all aspects of the company's technological development.

Prior to his appointment at Snapdeal, Mangla has spent about 10 years at Adobe Systems where he most recently served as VP, engineering, digital marketing. His responsibilities at Adobe included foundational big data, content and personalisation technologies. Prior to that, he has also been an entrepreneur for 10 years and founded a couple of companies.

Speaking about his appointment, Mangla says, "I have been yearning to get back to the thriving startup ecosystem in the country and what better opportunity than Snapdeal which has created a platform that touches hundreds of millions of people. Snapdeal's digital commerce ecosystem provides innumerable opportunities for high-tech innovations at internet speed and scale, which makes it an irresistible challenge. I would like to make technology work hard to create a trusted and easy-to-use marketplace."

The company claims that its technology team is currently 1000 people strong and is looking at doubling it by the end of this year. Sanpdeal has been strengthening its technology leadership team lately.
