Actor Suriya has been named the official brand ambassador for South India.
Following a revamp of its logo and tagline last month, cross-category classifieds business Quikr has named Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh as one of its official brand ambassadors. Actor Suriya will be the face of the brand in the South India market.
Singh was selected by Quikr as the brand believes that he represents the aspirations of modern India. He will be seen in Quikr's upcoming advertising campaign, which will be launched later this month. National award winning actor Suriya was chosen on the basis of his popularity in South India. This move was in line with Quikr's new brand positioning of 'Aasan hai badalna' and how change is essential to success.
Commenting on the association, Pranay Chulet, founder and CEO of Quikr, says, "Ranveer is an innovative, self-made star who stands out from the crowd. These qualities resonate with us and our journey towards market leadership. With his enormous talent and massive popularity, Ranveer's association with Quikr will give our platform more visibility with a wider audience."
"As the leaders in the online classifieds space, our task is to expand the market, and as a well-established actor, Suriya has built enormous credibility and trust over his illustrious career. We believe that his association with Quikr will further increase people's confidence in online buying and selling in India," adds Chulet.
Launched in 2008, Quikr claims to get over 30 million unique users every month. It operates across cities in India in over 10 categories that include mobile phones, household goods, cars, real estate, jobs, services and education. The platform allows consumers as well as small businesses to sell, buy, rent and find things across multiple categories.
The company's most recent product innovation was Quikr Nxt, launched in January this year. The new feature allows users to keep their email ID and phone number private, while use Quikr's website or mobile app to chat with potential buyers and sellers.
Quikr's investors include Warburg Pincus, Kinnevik, Tiger Global Management, Matrix Partners India, Norwest Venture Partners, Nokia Growth Partners, Steadview Capital, Omidyar Network and Ebay Inc.
