Flipkart has named Mukesh Bansal as its new marketing chief. He takes over from Ravi Vora, who will now be responsible for building new in-house brands for the company. The development is part of a large-scale management reshuffle that the company has initiated, across departments.
Mukesh Bansal (CEO and co-founder of Myntra.com, who became part of Flipkart's board, after the company acquired Myntra in May this year) will also be responsible for product verticals like computers and consumer electronics, and will market the company's private label brands too.
In another move, Ankit Nagori, Flipkart's marketplace head, will now oversee general merchandise and book retailing. Kalyan Krishnamurthy, who was appointed as Flipkart's (interim) chief financial officer in May this year, will now return to Tiger Global Management, one of the largest investors in Flipkart.
Flipkart had raised $1 billion (around Rs 6,000 crore) in a fresh round of funding co-led by two of its existing investors Tiger Global and Naspers, this July. Flipkart claims it currently has 22 million registered users and handles five million shipments every month.
