With a music quiz to warm people up on Facebook, the channel launched a fun new app titled, Guess That Song.
The much-awaited Season 2 of SoundTrek is back on Fox Life. The season will see popular artistes from India give a hypnotic twist to some of Bollywood's iconic classics. Starting September 1, the show will air every Monday and Tuesday at 10 pm.
This time, the artistes will be shown travelling to various places, picking an old classic song, delving into its history and recreating it in their own personal style. In short, it is a re-interpretation, re-imagination and a revival of old favourites.
To drum up excitement, Fox Life - in association with its agency Flying Cursor - has, among other things, lined up a music quiz to warm people up on Facebook, the channel launched a fun new app titled Guess That Song (Guess That Song). Fox Life has more than two million fans on Facebook.
For anyone who's played dumb-charades, this app will be a pleasant surprise, because it lets you play the popular old party game, with a twist. Fox Life got popular comedian Aditi Mittal on board and shot several short videos with her, in which she enacts some popular old songs in her quirky style.
People can view these videos on the app, guess which song is being acted out, and stand a chance to win goodies from Fox Life. They're then redirected to the SoundTrek promos, which are sure to generate some interest.
What makes this app stand out from the bevy of games available out there is its approach towards the fans. There are no multiple choice questions or any sharing. It's all about having some fun in a way that relates directly to what the show is about. Aditi's comic timing and priceless expressions makes this a fun app to be on, even if you get the answer wrong.
"With a show on such a personal and engaging topic, we thought it would be great to allow people to interact with it, and revive their interest in their old favourite songs, while encouraging them to watch the show" says Shormistha Mukherjee, director, Flying Cursor.
Soundtrek captures the musical journey of artistes like Palash Sen and his band Euphoria; Uday Benegal (Indian Rock band Indus Creed); Gurdeep Mehendi (popular Punjabi singer); Mikey McCleary, the man behind the re-interpretations of songs like Khoya Khoya Chand and Hawa Hawai; Hipnoribe, a Mumbai-based funk/jazz/rock band; Amit Kilam (Indian Ocean drummer); Dhruv Sangari (sufi singer) and many news bands like Nasya, Swarthma and Fossils as they explore India's "most memorable" songs in a city that connects best with it, collaborate with local artistes and create magic.
