OLX and Flipkart have inked a unique tie-up that will leverage each other's strengths to offer the combined benefits of their platforms to their internet base.
OLX is a marketplace for used goods, and Flipkart is one of the country's top destinations for online shopping. An alliance like this, in India, is an unprecedented one. The first phase of the tie-up kicked off with a joint marketing campaign urging consumers to upgrade by selling used products on OLX.in before buying the new products on Flipkart. The first print ad appeared in the Times of India on August 6. The campaign will run for a month and include several categories within electronics.
The joint initiative has been launched to increase awareness levels and accelerate the adoption of both online platforms for buying and selling. Speaking about the development, Amarjit Batra, CEO, OLX.in, says, "The idea for this tie-up was conceived keeping in mind the strong and independent position of OLX and Flipkart in their respective spaces. It is a seamless one."
Ravi Vora, SVP, marketing, Flipkart says, "With this partnership, we will be able to provide end-to-end solutions to customers, especially in the electronics category where selling sold products is an integral part of the buying process."
