Bagchi was head of the Mumbai and Bengaluru offices of Tribal Worldwide, India.
Quasar Media, a full service digital agency (part of the WPP Group), has appointed Saugata Bagchi as regional head, West and South. Bagchi will report to Gaurav Nabh, business head, Quasar and will be based in Mumbai.
Before joining Quasar, Bagchi headed the Mumbai and Bengaluru offices of Tribal Worldwide, India, and was responsible for driving business for the two regional offices. He also managed the agency's national mandate.
He was instrumental in establishing the agency as the digital agency of record for prestigious clients including Hindustan Unilever, Emirates and McDonalds, and developing the agency's technology, social media and digital analytics skill sets.
With his experience in sales, marketing and advertising across FMCG, media and entertainment, insurance, healthcare and automotive over the last 12 years, Bagchi looks at marketing challenges in a media-agnostic manner and strives for solutions which are conducive to the chosen media.
Speaking on the appointment, Nabh says, "Saugata is a born leader taking on challenges head on, something that he has demonstrated repeatedly across all his assignments. He brings with him a lot of experience and knowledge of consumers, and the ability to engage and delight them online, something that our clients will benefit from immensely. I am looking forward to working with Saugata in bringing great new ideas for our customers and growing our client base in Mumbai and Bengaluru."
Bagchi says, "Given the accelerated growth path Quasar is on, I believe this is the right time for me to take up the opportunity to navigate the western and southern regions at Quasar to drive business. Tasked with growing the already increasing client list in Mumbai, my mandate also includes setting up offices in other cities in West and South India, and contribute significantly to put the agency amongst the top five digital agencies in India. With the help of a great team here, I am very sure that we'll get there in the near future."
