Yahoo! has launched the international edition of Yahoo News Digest for both iOS and Android users in India. With this app, users can stay on top of all the need-to-know international news, twice a day, on their mobile phones.
Every morning and night, Yahoo News Digest delivers a summarised version of the top international news, in an easy-to-navigate design. The "Digests" provide a definitive summary of all the top international news so that users can stay on top of what's happening in the world.
The app covers stories from important news categories that include News, Technology, Sports, Business and World. Users can scan the summary, as well as read "atoms," which
convey different dimensions of the story.
The app also offers news stories, maps, Wikipedia entries, videos and photos, so that it becomes easier for users to know about the story in an interactive way.
The Android version of the Yahoo News Digest is built specifically with a new home screen widget that will display the most recent unread digest for easy viewing. Unlike other home screen widgets, the Yahoo News Digest widget keeps track of the digests that have been read.
The news, compiled by Yahoo editors in the UK, US and Malaysia, will deliver a timely Digest everyday at 8 am and 6 pm local time, wherever the user is in the world. Yahoo News Digest uses the Summly technology, which was sold to Yahoo for $30 million by its creator Nick D'Aloisio.
Recently, Yahoo had launched a new design of its website for India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. The design dons a cleaner look and gives users better personalisation features that were earlier unavailable. This new homepage is modelled on the Yahoo! US page.
