To kick off its second year in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad has appointed Flying Cursor, a Mumbai-based digital agency, to handle its social media marketing duties. Sunrisers Hyderabad is owned by the Sun Group, and reached the play offs in its debut last year. The account was won after a multi-agency pitch.

Confirming this to afaqs!, Shormistha Mukherjee, director, Flying Cursor, says, "We're really thrilled to be working with Sunrisers Hyderabad. The client is raring to go, we've got some really exciting ideas that are about to roll out, and the team, with Shikhar Dhawan at the helm and Darren Sammy as his deputy, has some amazing players. It's going be fantastic to build Sunrisers Hyderabad into a brand that doesn't just have followers, but devotees."

Flying Cursor will create exclusive content across social media platforms, launch contests, create online properties and provide fans with an experience of what is probably the most discussed, most watched cricket league in India.

On behalf of the Sun Group, K Shanmugam, group CEO, Sunrisers Hyderabad, says, "We are very happy to have teamed up with Flying Cursor. We expect this partnership to further our social media reach."

The 2014 season of the Indian Premier League, which starts from April 16, will be the seventh season of the IPL. The tournament will be jointly hosted by India and the United Arab Emirates.
