In order to promote the latest season of the hugely popular BBC crime drama, Sherlock, BBC One had launched a mini-episode on Christmas Eve. Reflecting the dedication of the fans across the world, the video has already recorded around 5.5 million views on YouTube and is going viral on social media.
The third season of the show has been launched on AXN India on January 3 and airs on Friday at 10 pm.
The video, titled 'Many Happy Returns', marks the return of the most loved character of the show that almost died at the end of the second season. But how he survived is yet unknown!
The seven-minute episode starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock and John Watson respectively, has interestingly woven Delhi Police into a scene where they seem to have solved a tricky case with the help of Sherlock Holmes.
In the other promotional initiatives, the channel had run a five-week pre-launch campaign. AXN had run around 1144 spots on the channel till December 28, 2013 while 350-400 spots were played on the English general entertainment channel from December 29 2013 to January 3. Sherlock's promotional spots were also aired on the sister channels of AXN - Sony Pix and Sony Six.
Meanwhile, the channel had aired the first two seasons of the show in December, before launching the third season.
This season will see a reunion, a marriage and a villain. But, the most anticipated question that the new season will answer for the fans of Sherlock will be the mysterious end in the last season, where he was shown jumping off a building.
