DisneyUTV Digital appoints Paul Wrider as director, game design

Wrider was the lead game designer at FunMobility, a social mobile entertainment company based in the United States of America.

DisneyUTV Digital has roped in Paul Joseph Wrider as director, game design for its gaming business in India. Wrider will be based in Mumbai and as part of his new mandate, will lead the game design team. He will also be responsible for developing new IPs.

Earlier, Wrider was the lead game designer at FunMobility, a social mobile entertainment company based in the United States of America.

Speaking on the appointment, Vishal Gondal, managing director, digital, DisneyUTV, says, "DisneyUTV Digital is happy to have Paul Wrider on board. We believe in leveraging technology to provide our users with engaging content to enhance their digital experience and we are constantly exploring new opportunities to build on that legacy. With Paul's extensive experience and knowledge in game designing and the global gaming industry, we will be able to develop new gaming IPs and add to our existing popular titles across mobile platforms."

Wrider joined the gaming industry in 1997 as game content producer with The Hub AOL. Later, he moved to All-Games Network as technical director. Wrider has worked with some of the top gaming companies like Digital Chocolate (one of the leading game developers on Facebook), Storm8 (leading developer of social games for iPhone and Android) and Zynga, where he successfully launched the first Facebook-based, fully 3D massively multiplayer online (MMO) game 'Guild of Heroes'. He has also worked on other popular titles like Mafia Wars and Vampires.

Wrider is excited about joining DisneyUTV Digital. "It's great to be associated with DisneyUTV Digital. It has a legacy of popular game titles across mobile and social platforms known globally. I am excited to be a part of this enthusiastic team and look forward to adding some exciting game titles in the coming months,"
