Gaming portal Zapak.com has launched a social cricket game called Cricville on Facebook. Marrying the most popular sport in the country with the craze that is social media, Cricville is further helped by the fact that it broadly follows the Indian Premier League pattern, thereby cashing in on the buzz around the tournament that is due to begin in a couple of months.

Elaborating on the same, Manish Agarwal, chief operating officer, digital business, Reliance Entertainment, says, "Cricket is not just a game, but a complete religion by itself in India. With the IPL being just around the corner, this is the perfect time to launch Cricville."

The game lets the user do a variety of things, from owning a cricket club and working towards making it bigger and better, to work as a club manager, build the club's city and stadium, and even hire a coach to train and upgrade the players' overall performance.

Various modes are also available to users, wherein they may throw challenges to their friends on Facebook, and take part in tournaments and practice matches.

"Cricville follows an easy and competitive game play, which will appeal not only to cricket fans, but also to other gaming enthusiasts on Facebook. Zapak wants to tap the Indian themed games segment, which offers universal appeal on Facebook aggressively and what better way to spearhead that than with cricket," notes Agarwal.

With Cricville, Zapak has stepped up its initiative in social gaming. This is the portal's second initiative after Zapak Tambola that was launched in June 2011.
