After a six-year stint, Jaspreet Bindra has resigned as regional director, retail, entertainment and devices at Microsoft India. G Shyam Sundar has been appointed as the acting retail sales and marketing head. Sundar is director, retail, entertainment and devices at Microsoft India.
Bindra is currently serving his notice period which ends on March 31, 2012. Confirming the news to afaqs!, Bindra says his next move is yet undecided, but there are few offers for corporate and entrepreneurial roles. "Six years with Microsoft has been a great experience where I got to work with a brilliant team. Moving on has been a difficult decision for me, yet I was certain that I needed to do something different, and I am currently working through a few options," he says.
Microsoft India in a statement, says, "Bindra, after a six-year stint with Microsoft India has decided to pursue his career outside of Microsoft, and we wish him the best. In the interim, we have appointed Sundar as the acting retail sales and marketing head."
Bindra, who has over 18 years of experience in internet, retail and telecom, joined Microsoft India in March 2006 as country manager, online services business. Prior to this, Bindra was with Tata Teleservices as general manager. At Tata Teleservices, he nationally managed two lines of businesses -- postpaid mobile business and push to talk business. Bindra was instrumental in driving Tata's push to talk business in India, and made it the first operator to launch this service in India.
Bindra also made an entrepreneurial bid in 2001, and helped set up baazee.com which was later bought by the online auction site eBay.
