The digital media giant has made its mail services available in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati.
Yahoo! India has announced the availability of the latest version of Yahoo! Mail in eight regional languages -- Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, and Gujarati. The service is an extension of the regional language websites rolled out by Yahoo! India in Hindi, Marathi and Tamil. Yahoo! Mail is now available in 46 new languages, and in more than 70 markets worldwide, with a simultaneous roll out in 27 new markets, including 22 new languages, in 16 new countries.
Commenting on the development, Nitin Mathur, senior director, marketing, Yahoo! India, says, "Languages form a critical part of our services. Not everyone is comfortable using English as a language to communicate, and this can act as a deterrent for them to use the medium. Making our mail services available in eight languages that are widely spoken is a step forward to take the digital medium beyond the metros to Tier II cities."
The new version of the mail has incorporated features such as easy-to-use applications to help people be more productive and organised. Yahoo! Mail has also included features that allow users to instantly respond to messages from Facebook, Yahoo! Groups, Yahoo! Mail, and other webmail providers with a new reply bar. Users can also view and share notifications and updates from Twitter, Facebook, and Zynga from a new updates tab.
