Singh will lead the digital technology division at the agency.
Proximity India has appointed Punit Singh as associate vice-president, digital technology. Singh, who will lead the digital technology division at the agency, will report to Ranjeev Vij, vice-president and head, Proximity India.
Speaking on the appointment, Ajai Jhala, chief executive officer, BBDO/Proximity India, says in an official communiqué, "Singh lives at the junction of digital technology, creative and strategy, and is that rare talent in the digital space who can walk the talk. We hope to see the impact of his hire on both the work and attracting new talent."
Earlier, Singh handled the digital strategy for India and Malaysia at Reliance MediaWorks.
Singh says, "India is placed at an exciting point on the digital front. And, with brands warming up to the potential of digital, the coming years will witness a paradigm shift in the way they reach out to their consumers."
Singh holds an engineering degree from REC, Nagpur, and has completed MBA from IIM, Indore. In 2002, he joined E2 Solutions as group head, projects. After three-and-a-half years with the company, he moved to Indigo Consulting as project director. After a stint of one year, he joined Tribal DDB as technology director. Next, he moved to Reliance MediaWorks. Singh has worked on brands such as Volkswagen, Idea, HDFC, Honda Cars, Standard Chartered, and Asian Paints.
Proximity has geared up for the launch of its proprietary multi-faceted programme Digital Lab Initiative in India, in early 2012.
