The Dentsu India group has appointed Glen Ireland as chief executive officer of its digital arm, Dentsu Digital. Prior to this, Ireland was managing partner in the Gurgaon-based digital marketing solutions company, 8020. Also, he will continue as founder and director at IDMI, the digital marketing training institute he founded in 2009.
Rohit Ohri, executive chairperson, Dentsu India Group, in an official communiqué, says, "Ireland's experience in India and overseas will help him harness Dentsu's global technology strengths and proprietary tools in mobile and social media for our client partners in the India market."
Ireland's responsibility will involve building a strong digital competence including creative, technical, strategy, account management and media capabilities.

Ireland, who has more than 19 years of experience, holds a post-graduate diploma in Business Management and a Master's degree in Applied Economics, apart from a professional diploma in direct and digital marketing. He has worked with George Patterson Y&R, Australia, where he was digital planning director, and handled various brands including Microsoft, Caltex, and many more. Subsequently, he moved to Publicis Mojo, Sydney, where he worked as CRM strategist on accounts such as Qantas and Toyota.
He has also worked with WPP/Enfatico Singapore as regional strategy director, digital for the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) on the Dell account. In India, he worked with JWT's RMG Connect as vice-president and branch manager, Delhi. At RMG Connect, he built a functional team, managing clients such as ITC's Wills Lifestyle, Spice Mobile, Oracle, SBI cards, Timex, Xerox and Avaya . He has also worked with Rediffusion-Y&R on brands such as Revlon, Lufthansa, Shell and Whyte & Mackay.
