The games will be accessible across social networking platforms, Nokia, Android, Apple and digital TV.
UTV Indiagames has secured the exclusive rights to develop and publish a cross-platform social game based on the movie RA.One on mobile, online, and on television with Shah Rukh Khan. Khan, who has conceptualised the game, launched the social avatar of his already popular character G.One. The movie is scheduled for release on October 26, 2011.
With an aim to build on the franchise, the game will be episodic in nature, introducing new levels, and with a story that will keep progressing with the game.
The game will also be micro transaction-enabled so that users can customise their own game experience. Reaching out to a wider section of casual gamers, the game is designed to simply 'pick up and play', with a theme that is attractive to global audiences.
Speaking at the launch, Vishal Gondal, chief executive officer, UTV Indiagames, says. "The amazing statistic is that 50 per cent of all users on social networking platforms play games. So, when we associated with Red Chillies to create a game around RA.One, we decided to make a social game out of the character.
Gondal claims the game has the potential to have a global appeal. "We hope the sheer power and reach of social gaming will enable us to build a massive gaming franchise appeal, appealing to everyone across the country, as well as increase the base of gamers in India," he adds.
On taking the movie to the social gaming platform, Shailja Gupta, head, digital and new media, Red Chillies, says, "The minute the decision to start the game for the movie was taken, I knew I wanted a social game. Since, all the superheroes that we grew up with, and who, until now, are borrowed from the West, and we still rely a lot on our mythological characters, I genuinely felt that G.One is definitely that superhero we all have been waiting for!
Gupta also says that in order to take G.One across to the audiences, they decided to build a franchise property where the character's shelf life prolongs. This social game created is meant for both Indian and worldwide audiences. "It is an apt platform for gamers to engage with the superhero on their phones, computers and even television," adds Gupta.
The game will be launched across all popular social networks like Facebook, along with gaming platforms like Nokia Ovi, Android, Apple, and more. UTV Indiagames will also launch a special version of the game for DTH subscribers.
