Malik was head of online marketing at Yatra.com.
Online Media Group (OMG) has roped in Bharat Malik as country manager for its India operations. Earlier, Malik was head, online marketing, at Yatra.com, the online travel agency.
OMG is a UK-based, performance-driven digital agency, which offers services such as affiliate marketing, search engine marketing and solutions like referral and incentive marketing. Apart from India and the UK, it has a presence in Germany, Poland, France and Australia.
It launched its India operation in March 2011, and offers services to more than 25 advertisers such as Jet Airways, Cleartrip, Snapdeal.com and Expedia India.
Richard Syme, chief executive officer, OMG Group, says, "Malik has extensive affiliate experience, particularly in the travel industry. We know that more than 75 per cent of Indian e-commerce is in the travel sector, but only 20 per cent of these brands currently utilise affiliate marketing. Thus, there is a massive potential for growth."
He adds, "Malik is an extremely important and strategic hire for OMG. We're expanding fast in the Asia-Pacific region, and we believe that he'll play an important role in introducing the travel sector and all other sectors to the possibilities open to them with performance marketing at OMG India."
Malik says, "With the growth of Indian e-commerce, now is the time for the industry to harness the power of online performance marketing. We need to educate the market about the possibilities it opens up to increase sales and customer interaction."
Malik has more than 10 years of experience. He joined Yatra.com in 2006 and was responsible for the affiliate marketing programme of Yatra.com. Earlier, he has worked with companies such as Deloitte and ebookers.
