The daily deals website will take the route of mobile applications to boost the consumption of discount deals.
The naukri.com-funded daily deals site, mydala.com, now plans to acquire a new set of customers via mobile.
For the same, the company will make available a set of mobile applications (apps) to users, which they can use to discover and purchase deals on the move, especially in the local area they are present in. To begin with, mydala.com has created and launched a BlackBerry application. In the next 15-20 days, it will also unveil apps for Android and iOS (iPhone) platforms.
Speaking to afaqs!, Ashish Bhatnagar, co-founder and chief technology officer, mydala.com, explains, "The BlackBerry application, once downloaded, showcases a main menu of various deal categories including restaurant deals, lifestyle deals and travel deals. Users can click on any of the deal categories to explore deals available under it."
Apart from that, the deals company has integrated Google Maps with the mydala.com mobile application. When the user accesses the maps facility, the app will identify the geographical location of the user on Google Map, and then enable him to explore mydala deals across a distance range of five kilometres, based on his current location.
Interestingly, the company has integrated the payments option with the BlackBerry app. This implies that users will be allowed to purchase deals on their BlackBerry phones and receive discount vouchers immediately.
Bhatnagar points out that the intention behind the launch of mobile apps is to offer more personalised (on-the-move) deals purchase options to users, and thus increase the probability of transactions on the mydala.com platform.
"We have figured out that many BlackBerry users (especially, users in the age group of 18-25 years) share a lot of information with each other using the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service. Availability of the mydala.com app on the BlackBerry platform will enable us to leverage this opportunity, as we expect that a lot of users will share information related to discount deals with each other, which in turn can benefit us," Bhatnagar says.
"We also figured that BlackBerry users use apps more than users of other platforms, and this is another reason for opting for the BlackBerry platform first, before Android and iPhone platforms," he adds.
In order to boost the consumption of deals via apps, the company plans to offer additional discounts to its apps users. The company will promote its apps via mobile advertising (banner and SMS), and also plans to tie up with mobile operators for the same.
