Agarwal is chief executive officer of UTV New Media.
Manish Agarwal, chief executive officer, UTV New Media will join Reliance Entertainment as chief operating officer (digital) in March. He will report to Rohit Sharma, chief executive officer, digital business, Reliance Entertainment.
Agarwal will be responsible for operations across BigFlix, Bigadda.com, Zapak Digital Entertainment and Jump Games.
Sharma says, "With India at the digital inflection point, we are expecting huge growth in our gaming, video on demand, and e-commerce businesses across all platforms and devices - be it mobile, PC or DTH. We believe that Agarwal's tremendous experience in the digital space will help us in achieving significant scale and growth in our business."
Agarwal has more than 14 years of experience across the technology, FMCG and internet domains. Prior to UTV, he was marketing director at Microsoft India's Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) division. Before Microsoft, he was vice-president, marketing, at Rediff.com and was responsible for all of Rediff.com's national marketing ventures.
He has earlier worked with Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) as senior brand manager, and has handled various brands such as Rin, Wheel, Lifebuoy, Breeze, Taj Mahal and Lipton Green Label. He had also worked with Infosys Technologies and Reliance Power as senior software engineer and assistant manager, respectively.
Agarwal holds a post-graduate degree in management from IIM Ahmedabad, and a Bachelor's degree in technology from NIT, Warangal.
