Vyas will head the digital business of GroupM, the media planning and buying agency of the WPP group

Tushar Vyas, who quit GroupM in September 2007 to join digital and mobile technology firm Surewaves, has come back to the agency as managing partner, South Asia. GroupM announced his appointment through an e-mail sent to the agency employees yesterday.
Vyas was director and chief marketing officer, Surewaves. Earlier, he was national director, Interaction, during his previous tenure at GroupM. Group M is the media planning and buying agency of the WPP group.
Speaking to afaqs!, Vyas says, "I will head the digital business of GroupM, which includes various arms such as Mindshare, Maxus and MEC. Apart from that, I will also look after the investments, mergers and acquisitions for the agency." He will be based in Mumbai.
Vyas will continue to stay as advisor to Surewaves. He joined GroupM for the first time in 1999 and has worked with the agency for more than eight years. He is an alumnus of MICA.
